Excuse Me!!!!

"Ain't No Competition When You Winning"-Jazmine Sullivan

We all have dreams of success, some of us want that career we always envisioned or maybe that black on black mercedes benz parked in the driveway of your dream home you just finished having built from the ground up. Maybe it's a happy and healthy family, college degree and working in your career field while having stability. Whatever it is, if you have gone the distance and made your dreams a reality then, "YOU ARE ALREADY WINNING". Don't worry about what others are doing. Be proud of what you accomplished and remember being busy doesn't always mean progress, don't be fooled.

5 Year Plan!!

This is something that has been on my mind lately, I normally write down short term goals. This year I have had success at following each one of them through. Instead of writing down New Years's Resolutions cause i'm going to be honest I never keep them. I decided to have short term goals embedded into my 5 year plan. I am going to make a list and keep it visible of things I want in life and what I have to do to attain them. I figured since I was successful at my short term goals of 2010 this will motivate me even more to continue going. One of the things on my five year plan is to have my Bachelor of Art Degree in Sociology, I want to help disadvantage youth and also conduct a non-profit to help in my community. The steps I need to accomplish this is to network with people I go to school with such as professors or peers and those who are currently having success in this particular field. I also need to maintain a schedule that allows me to work, volunteer, and study. A 5 year plan is a great way to motivate yourself to work towards something, and remember to write it down and keep it visible so you can monitor your progress.

A white woman, about 51 years old, was seated next to a black man on an airplane. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air hostess. “Madam, what is the matter?” the hostess asked. “You obviously do not see it,” she responded. “You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat.” “Be calm please,” the hostess replied. “Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available.” The Hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later. “Mam, I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is also no seat in the business class. All the same, we still have one place in the first class.” Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued, “It is not usual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting.” The hostess turned to the black man and said “Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in first class.” At that moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded.

POWER!!!

"Fuck the label, Fuck wit everyone wants from you, they trying to axel rose you.....welcome to the jungle".

Jay-Z said it best in his verse in Kanye West's track called "Power". No one man should have all that power and this is true, never let people have the power to affect your livelihood. Many will try and some will succeed if you let them. I noticed how people always want you to be like them or do things that interest them, regardless of how you feel about it. I seen people pretend they are something they are not and change themselves for other people. It's funny how people change themselves for others and still wonder why they are unhappy. Life is too short to let others bring you down or change you, being you all while trying to better yourself is the most important thing you can do, because GOD has something special for you that no one else can receive.

"Do you have the POWER to get out from up under you"

This right here speaks volumes whenever I feel down about my current situation I think of my cousin who was raised by a single mother and lived in public housing a great deal of her childhood. She later went on to receive her Masters. I also think of my friend who loss her mother at a young age and went from pillow to pillow and later at one point telling me she slept in her car, to now having her very own place, taking college classes towards her career and I say to myself.....If you want it bad enough you will go out and get it. We all have at some point or another felt sorry for ourselves but sorry doesn't pay bills or make things go away, only ACTIONS and FAITH do this. I remember being unsure about where my next meal or warm place to sleep would come from, being unemployed and not having one single friend to confide in. I learned you can't count on people but you can count on GOD, there is no hard feelings towards friends that come and go. When all is said and done you have to be satisfied with what you have accomplished each day. Forget what others may feel about you, how friends may treat you from time to time, how family can hurt you more than anyone else. All those things may cause a minor setback in your life...but if you don't forgive and move on, you won't be able to accomplish anything in life. No longer will I hold myself back, I went from not being in school to having a great year with excellent grades and even made a friend. I let go of my fears and asked GOD to intervene and he did, now he has given me more than I could ever ask for. Once you get a taste of success you never want to go back to where you were before. Each day I will try harder and harder to get away from the old me, so with that being said "You gotta go thru pain in order to become you".
